Photo Manipulations or When Reality is Not Enough

Once people learned to depict the reality and make the exact pictures of the physical objects with the help of photography, their imagination and creative thinking immediately formed a new goal to urge for: to manipulate the captured reality, to modify and alter photographic images, adding visual effects, changing color gammas, or combining seemingly immiscible things. That is how the particular stream in the art of photography, called photo manipulation, appeared. From the timid experiments of enthusiasts it evolved into a rapidly growing trend, which now serves both art and commercial purposes.

According to the definition, the purpose of photo manipulation process is to create an illusion or visual deception. However, it seems reasonable to add that those illusions are usually created for the sake of art and satisfaction of the aesthetic needs and expectations of modern audience. Photo manipulation techniques have received wide popularization in digital art, published and digital media, and advertising industry. Today, we want to share with you a collection of works, which demonstrate some of the capabilities of the photo manipulation. Hopefully, you’ll enjoy this type of illusions and deceptions.

With 30 years of life experience behind my shoulders, today I find myself focused mainly around two core values: my family (I am a happy husband and a proud father) and IT in its broadest meaning, including but not limited to hardware and software techniques and innovations. My special interest and true passion is photography. Here I am ready to put my signature under each word, once said by Dorothea Lange: “The camera is an instrument that teaches people how to see without a camera.” Being a part of Cruzine team, I enjoy instant process of learning as well as sharing my own experience in photography and IT with the readers of this digital magazine.
