Think about what type of role color plays in graphic design. What colors attract your eye? What color combinations draw your attention to the page? Which colors seem more powerful than others? A desirable color for logos and branding, blue stands for loyalty and dependability. Also the color of water and the sky, blue represents serenity, calm, femininity, pureness, peace, and security. Blue can also symbolize technology as well in the design industry. Darken the shade, and you instantly create an air of authority, power, and trustworthiness.

The intonation of black can be found on either side of the spectrum, also. Dark and mysterious, black can symbolize the night or evilness. Fear, remorse, and mourning are all inspired by black; the wearing of black at funerals is an example of this. Black tie ceremonies create a classier and elegant level for the color black. In addition, black can hold an air of power, wealth, formality, and sophistication. Black can also represent a void, or lack of color.
